Manage secure properties

To manage secure properties, install the designated utility on the main installation server:

cd PACKAGE_DIR
./install.sh install wf-sec-storage

After installation, run it as in the following example:

${INSTALL_DIR}/wf_sec_storage/loader.sh <component-name> <action>

In the example above:

  • <component name> defines the component to process:

    • workfusion
    • workspace
    • wfagent
  • <action> defines whether the properties are reviewed or updated:

    • review to read the content of the secured storage
    • properties_file to define the path to the properties file containing the secure properties to add, update, or delete

Read properties

To read the application's configuration properties, run the utility with the action set to review, for example, as shown below:

sh loader.sh workspace review

As a result, the utility returns a list of all secured properties with values available for the defined component.

Edit properties

Use the utility to modify the secure properties. For that, in the action parameter, specify the name of the file that contains properties to be modified.

Add a property

To add a new secure property, in the properties file, specify the properties and their values.

Update a property

To edit the secure properties, in the properties file, specify the existing properties with new values, for example, as shown below:

sh loader.sh workfusion workfusion-secure.properties

Below is a sample file:

s3.access-key={{ s3_access_key }}
s3.secret-key={{ s3_secret_key }}
s3.context.key.map={{ s3_context_key_map }}
...
automation.password=[set-new-password]

Here, specify a new automation.password value and save the file.

Delete property

To remove a secure property, in the property file, add the property with an empty value, for example, as shown below:

mturkds.database.password=
ldap.server.url=

If the properties file is created in the same folder where the utility is stored (for example, the file is named as new_values.properties), the full path is not necessary, so you can call the utility as shown below:

sh loader.sh workfusion new_values.properties

After you finish work with the secrets storage, you may remove the wf-sec-storage directory for security reasons.
