Checklist for creating Manual Task
Upload file
Check the following:
Is your input data file formatted correctly (CSV)? Check the separator and encoding.
Does it contain relevant fields? If a warning is displayed, map the input file columns to the Manual Task variables.
For additional information, read the Upload data topic.
Design task
Pay attention to the following considerations:
- Are the Instructions clear and concise?
- Are examples provided if needed?
- Are corner cases explained if needed?
- Are all necessary Data Elements visible to worker?
- Do all hyperlinks function properly?
- Are all Answer Types formatted correctly?
- Are Answer Types the most efficient for the specific task?
- Generally, all Required Answers should have N/A allowed. If no information is available for a particular required field, workers have to select the N/A checkbox to submit the task since it can't be left blank. If the N/A checkbox is not available, the worker won't be able to submit the task.
- Check if there are any hidden required fields that prevent submitting the task. Hidden answer fields appearing only if a particular option for another answer field is checked are called Sub-answers. Look through the list of answers to find the sub-answers with the required option enabled and disable it. Sub-answers may not be used in every task and thus should not be required.
note
Save the task periodically while designing as autosave is NOT available at the stage.
For additional information, read the Design Manual Task topic.
Run task
On the Run tab for a Manual Task, check the following settings:
- Is Workforce set to your specifications?
- Is Block Size set to your specifications?
For additional information, read the Set Run parameters topic.
Advanced Options
In the Advanced Options popup (Manual Tasks > Run tab > click the Advanced Options button), check the tabs as described below.
For more information, read the Set Run parameters topic.
Properties
- Verify the Task Expires in parameter. The recommended value is seven to 14 days. A shorter expiration period can entice workers.
- For the Time Allotted per Task parameter, add about 15 minutes to the estimated time to allow workers extra time.
- Verify the Max Number of Pending Assignments per Task parameter. It shows the number of tasks a worker can hold.
- Do Keywords (searchable terms) fit the task?
- Does the Description explain your task briefly in a single- or two-sentence headline?
