WorkFusion Analytics custom dashboards backup and restore

General migration flow

The workbook migration flow includes the following steps:

  1. Download Workbook.
  2. Change data source connections if needed.
  3. Rename Workbook according to the naming convention.
  4. Publish Workbook to a new instance.

Backup

Dashboard backup means download them from WorkFusion Analytics Server.

  1. Open WorkFusion Analytics Server page and select appropriate Site.
  2. Click Projects.
  3. Choose the needed one.
  4. Find a workbook for downloading and expand workbook menu by pointing and clicking three dots.
  5. Click Download. The workbook TWBX file is downloaded.

Dashboard backup means download them from WorkFusion Analytics Server.

  1. Open WorkFusion Analytics Server page and select appropriate Site.

  2. Click Projects.

  3. Choose the needed one.

  4. Find workbook for downloading and expand workbook menu by pointing and clicking three dots.

  5. Click Download. The workbook TWBX file is downloaded.

Restore

The steps for WorkFusion Analytics Desktop are as follows.

Change connections (optional)

If all connections to database server remain the same, skip the step and proceed to the next.

  1. Open recently downloaded workbook file in WorkFusion Analytics Desktop.

  2. Go to worksheet by pointing and clicking the Go to sheet button in the Dashboard section.

  3. On the Data tab, right-click on the data source and choose Edit data source....

  4. Edit data base connection settings and click OK. Move to dashboard sheet.

Sign in to Server

  1. In the menu bar, choose Server > Sign in....

  2. Enter BI server URL and click Connect.

  3. Enter WorkFusion Analytics Server credentials and click Sign In. You should have the Publisher, Site or Server Administrator role.

  4. Select appropriate Site for publishing.

Publish workbook

  1. In the menu bar, choose Server > Publish Workbook....

  2. Check Project and Name fields.

    important

    Use the _custom postfix in a name to meet WF Dashboard configuration requirements. A name should not start with a digit.

    Then, the workbook publish dashboard appears on Analytics > Custom page.

  3. Choose the Show sheets as tabs option.

    Optionally, there is an opportunity to add refresh extract schedule.

  4. Click Edit in the Sheets section and select sheets to publish.

  5. Click Edit in the **Data Sources **section and change publish type to Embedded in workbook and authentication mode to Allow refresh access.

  6. Click Publish.

  7. Check the published workbook on BI server.
