Background
Why new software got into play?
In June 2020, WorkFusion decided to sunset Intelligent Automation Cloud Express and Business Editions. Now, the company is seeking to transition all Business Edition users to the Enterprise Edition. The Recorder capability is available in Enterprise Edition v10.1.6+ with no additional steps to migrate Business Processes (BPs) from Business v2.4.1 or v2.4.2 to Enterprise v10.1.6+.
For training and prototyping, you can continue using the existing copies of Business or Express Editions, the Low-Code Developer online learning path in Automation Academy and the Business Edition documentation.
Intelligent Automation Cloud Developer is the successor of IA Cloud Express and Business in that it serves as a development environment for the Automation Engineer and Low-Code Developer personas. IA Cloud Developer is part of IA Cloud Enterprise. That means, if your company already has a contract to use IA Cloud Enterprise, no additional licenses are required to download and you can utilize IA Cloud Developer for any number of users.
Think of IA Cloud Developer as a personal workstation installation of a simplified WorkFusion environment. You can deploy the output from IA Cloud Developer to server-based IA Cloud Enterprise.
Why migrate?
WorkFusion recommends migrating from IA Cloud Business or Express to IA Cloud Enterprise comprising IA Cloud Developer. Advantages are as follows:
IA Cloud Enterprise is WorkFusion's flagship product. With it, your company gets the full range of automation benefits.
Having Production in a single centrally-managed environment is safer in terms of IT support and software updates.
With Enterprise Edition, you get access to Analytics dashboards that provide valuable metrics for automation management. You can control volumes, STP, manual work, resource consumption and planning, ROI calculations, and other aspects of your business more efficiently if they are data-driven.
Business and Express Editions are obsolete products. WorkFusion provides no updates—whether in terms of features or bug fixes. However, since IA Cloud Developer and the Recorder capability are available in IA Cloud Enterprise, you can get advanced features and bug fixes with patches or new versions of IA Cloud Enterprise or IA Cloud Developer.
Up-to-date IA Cloud Enterprise versions are compliant with the latest security requirements and safe from recent vulnerabilities.

To ensure smooth migration to the latest IA Cloud Developer and Enterprise, our engineers tested all Business Processes with Bot Tasks created with WorkFusion Studio's RPA Recorder in v2.4.0, v2.4.1, v2.4.2 Express or Business Editions. The tests confirmed that the tasks work as is in Enterprise 10.1.6+.
It doesn't matter how Bot Tasks are created—with the recording capability or dragging and configuring actions. Any Business Processes verified to work in Control Tower in v2.4.0, 2.4.1, 2.4.2 execute flawlessly in Control Tower starting from IA Cloud Enterprise v10.1.6+.
caution
Keep in mind that bringing Business Processes from a newer environment to an older one may be problematic out of the box. For example, a Business Process exported from Control Tower v10.2.4 will fail during import to v10.2.3.
To avoid such issues, use the same versions or at least migrate from an older to a newer version. For example, export from v10.2.3 > import to v10.2.4 will work.
